Islamic Counselling in London

Assalamu alaykum

This sounds interesting...

ACCREDITED ISLAMIC COUNSELLING TRAINING (C London)

We are pleased to announce the availability of places on our part time VRQ Level 2 Certificate in Islamic Counselling. The course will be running from 24th September 2009 to January 14th 2010 and will be based near Edgware Road in London. These courses have been attended by teachers, scholars, social workers and counsellors in the past, all of whom have found them to be beneficial. If you are interested, do contact us at your earliest convenience as spaces are limited. Applications must reach us by 18th September 2009.

Our training is experiential. This involves learning by doing, which means that trainees are clients for each others' work in the development of their skills and knowledge. This work is
supported by traditional tuition, reading and assignments. Trainees are required to develop a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates their competence. Portfolios include documentary
evidence such as learning reviews, assignments and tutor observations.

Thanks for posting this about our London Course...We are also running a course in Birmingham. This is an opportunity to train in Islamic counseling and to become a volunteer in the Lateef Project
VRQ’s In Islamic Counselling Skills level 2

The part-time one day per week programme, running between 6th October 2009 and 26th January 2010 is for people with no previous training and who want to develop helping skills within the Islamic Counselling model. This course will be followed in the spring with a level three course completing the basic counselling skills training necessary to be a volunteer at the Lateef Project. Both qualifications are CPCAB accredited.
The Lateef Project is a counselling skills service for Muslims in Birmingham. The service provides anonymous culturally appropriate counselling for people experiencing hardship or difficulty and enables people in crisis to access the appropriate help. Volunteers who have understanding of the issues experienced within our communities provide this service; our volunteers can act as a gateway to more in depth support if needed.
If you wish to train to become a volunteer please contact Abdullah Maynard at email stephenmay@mac.com or Tel. 10582411900. Applications must be received by 30th September.
